Alcoa is a global company with direct and indirect ownership of operating locations across several countries. Co.'s operations consist of three reportable business segments: Bauxite, Alumina, and Aluminum. The Bauxite and Alumina segments primarily consist of a series of affiliated operating entities held in Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals, a global, unincorporated joint venture between Co. and Alumina Limited. The Aluminum segment consists of Co.'s aluminum smelting, casting, and rolling businesses, along with the majority of the energy production business. The AA stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the AA stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2013 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the AA annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
