American Finance Trust is a real estate investment trust. Co. focuses on acquiring and managing a portfolio of retail and distribution related commercial real estate properties. Co. owns a portfolio of commercial properties comprised primarily of freestanding single-tenant properties that are net leased to investment grade and other creditworthy tenants and a portfolio of multi-tenant retail properties consisting primarily of power centers and lifestyle centers. Substantially all of Co.'s business is conducted through American Finance Operating Partnership, L.P., and its wholly-owned subsidiaries. The AFIN average annual return since 2018 is shown above.
The Average Annual Return on the AFIN average annual return since 2018 page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annualized return over the past ten years (or specified start date) for a given investment
(up to the end of prior trading session recorded). Arguably, choosing ten years for a measurement
period is on the one hand completely arbitrary, but on the other hand provides a sufficiently long window
to capture long-term trends.
Thus, researching Average Annual Returns is good practice for investors — whether AFIN average annual return since 2018 or other benchmarks/peers
— and when doing so it is also important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annualized return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon. Our website aims to empower investors
by performing the AFIN average annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
