89bio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of therapies for the treatment of liver and cardio-metabolic diseases. Co.'s primary product candidate, pegozafermin, a glycoPEGylated analog of fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), is being developed for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and for the treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia. FGF21 is a metabolic hormone that regulates energy expenditure and glucose and lipid metabolism. FGF21 analogs represent a class of drugs to treat NASH, because they not only address the liver manifestations, but also have an effect on the multiple co-morbidities that worsen NASH. The Average Annual Return on the ETNB average annual return since 2019 page and across the coverage universe of our site, is a measure of the annualized return over the past ten years (or specified start date) for a given investment (up to the end of prior trading session recorded). Arguably, choosing ten years for a measurement period is on the one hand completely arbitrary, but on the other hand provides a sufficiently long window to capture long-term trends.

Thus, researching Average Annual Returns is good practice for investors — whether ETNB average annual return since 2019 or other benchmarks/peers — and when doing so it is also important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annualized return is more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon. Our website aims to empower investors by performing the ETNB average annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
