Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to track the performance of the Mergent Dividend Achievers Select index. The fund attempts to replicate the target index by investing all, or substantially all, of assets in the stocks that make up the index, holding each stock in approximately the same proportion as weighting in the index. As of Jan 31 2014, the Fund's total investment portfolio totaled $22,238,456,000. The VIG stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the VIG stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2017 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the VIG annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
