AGNC Investment is a real estate investment trust. Co. invests in Agency residential mortgage-backed securities, which consist of residential mortgage pass-through securities and collateralized mortgage obligations for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by a U.S. Government-sponsored enterprise, such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (together with Fannie Mae, GSEs), or by a U.S. Government agency, such as the Government National Mortgage Association. Co. also invests in other assets related to the housing, mortgage or real estate markets that are not guaranteed by a GSE or U.S. Government agency. The AGNC stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the AGNC stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2023 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the AGNC annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
