Black Stone Minerals owns and manages oil and natural gas mineral interests. Co.'s principal business is managing its existing mineral and royalty assets through active management and expanding its asset base through acquisitions of additional mineral and royalty interests. Co.'s mineral and royalty interests are located in the continental United States, including all of the primary onshore producing basins. Several of these interests are in active resource plays, including the Haynesville/Bossier shales in East Texas/Western Louisiana, the Wolfcamp/Spraberry/Bone Spring in the Permian Basin, the Bakken/Three Forks in the Williston Basin, and the Eagle Ford shale in South Texas. The BSM stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the BSM stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2016 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the BSM annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
