First Trust Morningstar Dividend Leaders Index Fund is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the Morningstar Dividend Leaders Index (the Index). The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its assets in common stocks that comprise the Index. The Index offers investors a benchmark for dividend portfolios, as well as a means to invest in a portfolio of stocks that have a consistent record of growing dividends, as well as the ability to sustain them. As of Dec 31 2009, the Fund's total assets were $48,633,936 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $48,419,934. The FDL stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the FDL stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2016 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the FDL annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
