Golub Capital BDC is an externally managed, closed-end, non-diversified management investment company. Co. makes investments primarily in one stop (a loan that combines characteristics of first lien senior secured loans and second lien or subordinated loans) and other senior secured loans of middle-market companies that are, in most cases, sponsored by private equity firms. Co.'s investment objective is to generate current income and capital appreciation by investing primarily in one stop and other senior secured loans of U.S. middle-market companies. The GBDC stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the GBDC stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2021 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the GBDC annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
