Market Vectors Global Alternative Energy ETF is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to replicate as closely as possible the price and yield performance of the Ardour Global Index (Extra Liquid) (the Index). The Index is a rules-based, global capitalization-weighted, float-adjusted index that tracks the overall performance of a global universe of listed companies engaged in the alternative energy industry. The Index comprises a globally diversified group of companies engaged in the production of alternative fuels and/or related technologies. As of Dec 31 2013, the Fund's total assets were $111,541,033 and its investment portfolio was valued at $91,410,447. The GEX average annual return 10 years is shown above.
The Average Annual Return on the GEX average annual return 10 years page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annualized return over the past ten years (or specified start date) for a given investment
(up to the end of prior trading session recorded). Arguably, choosing ten years for a measurement
period is on the one hand completely arbitrary, but on the other hand provides a sufficiently long window
to capture long-term trends.
Thus, researching Average Annual Returns is good practice for investors — whether GEX average annual return 10 years or other benchmarks/peers
— and when doing so it is also important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annualized return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon. Our website aims to empower investors
by performing the GEX average annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
