The New Ireland Fund is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund's investment objective is long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity securities of Irish companies. Under normal circumstances, the Fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in Irish equity and fixed income securities. At least 65% of the Fund's total assets will be invested in equity securities of issuers organized under the laws of Ireland (Irish Companies). Accordingly, the Fund's assets invested in equity securities of Irish Companies may include investments in companies that are organized in Ireland, but have limited business activities in Ireland. The IRL stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the IRL stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2019 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the IRL annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
