Orchid Island Capital is a real estate investment trust. Co. invests in residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS). The principal and interest payments of these RMBS are guaranteed by the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, or the Government National Mortgage Association and are backed primarily by single-family residential mortgage loans. Co.'s portfolio consists of two categories of Agency RMBS: pass-through Agency RMBS, such as mortgage pass through certificates and collateralized mortgage obligations; and structured Agency RMBS, such as interest only securities, inverse interest only securities and principal only securities. The ORC stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the ORC stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2023 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the ORC annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
