Vanguard Short-Term Government Bonds (the Fund) is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to track the performance of a market-weighted government bond index with a short-term dollar-weighted average maturity. The fund is designed to track the performance of the Barclays Capital U.S. 1-3 Year Government Float Adjusted Index. All of the fund's investments will be selected through the sampling process, and at least 80% of the fund's assets will be invested in bonds included in the index. As of Aug 31 2013, the Fund's investments portfolio was valued at $377,813,000. The VGSH stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the VGSH stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2019 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the VGSH annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
