The Fund tracks the performance of Morgan Stanley Capital International United States Investable Market Utilities Index, an index made up of stocks of large, medium-size and small United States companies in the utilities sector, as classified under the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). This GICS sector is made up of those companies considered electric, gas, or water utilities, or companies that operate as independent producers and/or distributors of power. As of Aug 31, 2013, the Fund's investments portfolio was valued at $1,702,984,000. The VPU stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the VPU stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2015 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the VPU annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
