First Trust Value Line Dividend Index Fund is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the Value Line Dividend Index (the Index). The Index is designed to objectively identify and select those stocks from the universe of stocks, of which Value Line, Inc. gives a Safety Ranking of #1 or #2 in the Value Line Safety Ranking System and have the potential to pay above-average dividends and capital appreciation. As of Dec 31 2009, the Fund's total assets were $153,895,417 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $153,454,621. The FVD stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the FVD stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2017 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the FVD annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
