ProShares UltraShort S&P500 is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks daily investment results that correspond to twice (200%) the inverse (opposite) of the daily performance of the S&P 500 (the Index). The Index is a measure of large-cap the United States stock market performance. It is a float-adjusted, market capitalization-weighted index of 500 United States operating companies and real estate investment trusts selected through a process that factors criteria, such as liquidity, price, market capitalization and financial viability. As of May 31 2013, the Fund's total assets and investment portfolio totaled $2,113,713,478 and $2,106,495,071, respectively. The SDS stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the SDS stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2016 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the SDS annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
