SPDR S&P Dividend is an open-end investment management company. The Fund seeks to closely match the returns and characteristics of the S&P High Yield Dividend Aristocrats Index (the Index). The Index is designed to measure the performance of the 60 highest dividend yielding S&P Composite 1500 Index constituents that have followed a managed-dividends policy of consistently increasing dividends every year for at least 25 consecutive years. The Fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the Index. As of June 30 2015, the Fund's total assets and investment portfolio totaled $13,542,735,420 and $13,515,502,662, respectively. The SDY stock yearly return is shown above.
The yearly return on the SDY stock yearly return page and across the coverage universe of our site,
is a measure of the annual return over the calendar year 2017 for the given stock.
When performing this calculation it is important to factor in dividends, because a financial instrument's annual return is
more than just the change in price if that instrument pays a dividend or coupon.
One way to factor dividends into the return is simply to count them as cash — we don't do
that here. Instead, our website aims to empower investors
by performing the SDY annual return calculation with any dividends reinvested as applicable (on ex-dates).
